ADCO was the first company in Middle East to implement Geotextile Tube installation for the prestigious AMWAJ Island project at the Kingdom of Bahrain. ADCO has an exclusive tie-up with T.C.Mirafi for geotextile tube installations.
The perimeter for the AMWAJ Island project was created by filling two layers of Geotubes to a total height of 4.6 meters. The Geotubes will be covered in some areas with rip rap but most areas will be covered with sand.
The first layer of Geotubes are installed to a height of 2.6 meters using a .4 meter diameter cutter head dredge.
The second layer of Geotubes are filled by the hopper method or with a sand induction pump to a height of 2.0 meters.
The height of the two Geotubes reaches 4.6 meters. When the islands are completed most of the Geotubes will be covered with sand and a beach will be created in front for the private residences.
As the Geotubes are placed the island is being created by filling inside the perimeter with sand that is being dredged from the surrounding area.
